A bronze-coloured World War One British Victory Medal. Part of a collection of medals belonging to Sgt. James Hilton Currie. This is the British Victory Medal issued to all British Army and Commonwealth Forces who served overseas. It is one of the most common medal issued to British servicemen. He enlisted on January 4, 1916 at age 19 to the 161st "Huron" Canadian Infantry Battalion. Between 1917 to 1919 her served in the 4th Canadian Machine Gun Battalion as a Machine Gunner. He was a charter member of the Wingham Royal Canadian Legion Branch 180, 1931. |
