Notes |
When the silver cup was left to Tiger's sister Janet Graham in his will, she was living in England. It is believed to have been left with Reverend Fletcher who was good friends with the Dunlops. Rev Fletcher's daughter, Mary Balfour Fletcher married James T. Garrow to which the cup was then given (his father was also James Garrow and friends with the Dunlops). James T Garrow's son, Captain Alan B. Garrow received it next followed by his son James Walcot Garrow. It was passed down through the Garrow family prior to being donated to the Huron County Museum. "The 1817 sovereign was the first modern gold sovereign to be issued. King George III's portrait can be seen on the obverse of the coin, and Benedetto Pistrucci's portrayal of St. George and the dragon is depicted on the reverse." - from coinparade.co.uk |
