A silver-coloured World War One Meritorious Service Medal featuring a profile of King George V. This is the Meritorious Service Medal issued to non-commissioned officers and men of the British Army and Commonwealth Forces to recognise acts of "Gallantry in the face of the Enemy". Part of a collection of medals belonging to Sgt. James Hilton Currie. He enlisted on January 4, 1916 at age 19 to the 161st "Huron" Canadian Infantry Battalion. Between 1917 to 1919 her served in the 4th Canadian Machine Gun Battalion as a Machine Gunner. He was a charter member of the Wingham Royal Canadian Legion Branch 180, 1931. |
